Gazing at the expanse of a blue sky and undulating clouds, I started to feel relaxed and excited at the same time. After a quick debate and reshape of our road trip (when we had to completely change our original plans to go to the Adirondacks due to some unforeseeable rain), we were on the road in the opposite direction, with a trip around Georgian Bay in mind.

Killarney Provincial Park – Best hiking trails of the year: 2020
The Crack
As soon as we got on the trail, I knew it. All the street noise has suddenly ceased, the only family we passed by got quiet, the silent forest enveloped us in its magic touch, and then I knew I’m going to love the place. Was it the park itself, or just my desire to get out after so much social distancing, time will say.

After a torrid month we’ve had some rain in the forecast, which made us decide to start with the most difficult day hike of the park: The Crack.

After four hours of driving north of Toronto, getting to Tobermory was like a great relief. Tobermory is located at the top of Bruce peninsula, where Huron Lake meets Georgian Bay. Small town but full of life, this is a destination for everyone.
