Enjoying so much the last year 10-day travel challenge, Nilla from ImageEarthTravel has kindly initiated a new Photo Challenge for the month of August and beyond, for everyone who would like to participate. Thank you Nilla for the nomination!

This challenge sees you posting a favourite photo each week for the month of August (so it’s not too demanding), and can be taken at any time. So now is the time to start digging through all your treasure boxes, or post a recent one if you have something new to share with us😊

The fun is to guess where the photo was taken, as we suppose to post a photo without any explanation. Any comments are actually welcome!

This year, the spring arrived stealthily in Ontario, and suddenly I realized it was gone already.

From March to May, Mother Nature put on her new appearances, and we watched the flowers blooming, as we eagerly awaited them for so long. We enjoyed the sun and the clear skies, the birds and their songs.

CA, Ontario – A symphony of colours: Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens

If you are ever passing through Mississauga during the spring, or summer time, then you should stop here. Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens is a waterfront park with many varieties of ornamental shrubs, trees, and flowers, that are in full bloom at the end of May.

Domine, Quo vadis?

The cobblestone street reminded me of the little town of my childhood. The stones were cut in a specific cubical shape, and probably coming from the plenty of the volcanic rocks from the depths of the earth. This time I was walking down the Appian Way, and while I was trying to grasp the meaning of this long road outside of Rome, I was taken by surprise by the little church of Domine Quo Vadis.

The road is famous for its ruins, and for the catacombs along its way, and if you wonder if this is just a tale heard in a movie, then you need to see with your own eyes to match the reality.

CA, Nova Scotia: The Fortress of Louisbourg, the place where the past is present

–Friends or foes? The guard took us by surprise, blocking up the entrance.

–Huh?..

–Where are you coming from?

–From Toronto, was our short answer.

–No enemies are allowed inside!!

He suddenly started laughing, definitely by the look of our faces. A second later it struck me this is French land.. such a welcoming people LOL

A PORTAIT JOURNAL

What are you interested in, when you visit new places? Is it the food, the landscape, or the climate that motivates you to chose a certain destination? Cities, or remote areas? Museums, or parks? Mountains, or oceans? People, or places?

Peru has everything a tourist or a photographer is wishing for. I saw and photographed many locals in all areas we visited during our trip to Peru, in 2019. Not necessarily the people (as I didn’t want to intrude into their personal life), but especially their traditional costumes, which are truly eye-catching, with their unique motifs and vivid colours.

The magic of the frozen falls: Niagara Falls

Cold to extreme cold temperatures are normally keeping us inside, but sometimes we need to get out to see what magic they can do. Especially with waterfalls.

January and February are great months to go visiting the falls, as they offer astonishing views. The mist rising from the great falls are layering over and over on the surrounding features, creating a magical snowy winter wonderland. Although by the time we got to the Niagara Falls the sun decided to hide, we still had a great time seeing all the frozen features the waterfalls are so famous for.
