Located in the northeastern part of New York State, the Adirondack Mountains are about 5 hours north of New York city, or 5 hours east of Toronto. Representing the largest protected area in the contiguous United States, the Adirondack Mountains boasts with more than 2,000 miles of hiking trails, over 3,000 lakes and ponds, and 1,200 miles of rivers. They cover about 5,000 square miles (13,000 km2).
Winter is here again, and the only way to enjoy it is to embrace it! What a better way than exploring the surrounding countryside, where every unexpected corner can offer many surprises; this time the rare and stunning frost flowers.
Despite 2021 being a tough year, with many ups and downs, and hopes for a normal life, we still had our little joys, witnessing the life emerging in the spring, or watching the sunny skies during the summer time! We were happy to be able to learn a bit of Canadian history in Thunder Bay, and considered lucky to be able to hit the road again, having not one, but two road trips, one in Northern Ontario, along Lake Superior, and one in Quebec, around the Gaspé Peninsula (known as Gaspésie).
Even though some wildfires altered the nature in certain areas and then the rain came to wash out the barren earth, we still had our amazing autumn, when the Mother Nature put up the most exquisite golden dress!

I was often in awe of the craftsmanship of many bridges I crossed or admired over time. Some of them are right in the middle of famous cities, probably famous just because of their prodigious bridges, while others are built in the midst of unbelievable places, in the middle of nowhere. Either way, all of them are taking you to some of the most scenic views.
If you are ever passing through Mississauga during the spring, or summer time, then you should stop here. Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens is a waterfront park with many varieties of ornamental shrubs, trees, and flowers, that are in full bloom at the end of May.
The summer is long gone now, but the sweet memories of my little visitors are still vivid in my mind. The delight of having a garden is that you are never getting alone. Beside the gardening itself, you can always enjoy the little visitors, especially the birds. All you need is to plant certain flowers, and hang a couple of birdfeeders. Very easy!
The pictures don’t do justice to the exuberance and the joyfulness of the little ones, so I decided to make a little video. You can see what were the most successful flowers from my backyard this summer. Hope you’ll enjoy it!

The last day of October started with a bold sunny morning. It couldn’t be better, as our plan was to visit Niagara Glen, one of the best hiking opportunities in Niagara area.
The past month was especially remarkable, as the Mother Earth put up her royal clothes, and spoiled us with thousands of colours, shades, and feelings.
The whole nature basically metamorphosed, every day acquiring a new appearance as the fall foliage has reached its glory.
